Every legacy has a birthplace. Mine is Detroit. Before Top Notch NME reached beyond the city, my journey started with a dream, a work ethic, and a refusal to accept limits.
The Early Days
I was thirteen—watching sneakers I couldn’t afford and realizing I’d have to create my own lane. I took odd jobs, learned how to flip what I had, and invested everything into early experiments: customizing, remixing, and rebuilding until my hands matched my vision.
The Spark: Why Top Notch NME?
Detroit builds you different. I wanted a house that carried that discipline—luxury standards with street truth. “Top Notch” stands for craftsmanship. “NME” reflects the internal battle: the push to outdo doubt, outwork distraction, and stay locked into purpose.
The Struggle Is the Foundation
I started small—learning through trial, failure, and repetition. Heat-pressing by hand, studying what worked, and rebuilding what didn’t. The grind taught me that style isn’t just what you wear—it’s what you maintain when nobody’s watching.
Breakthroughs, Sacrifices, and Authorship
The first time a stranger stopped me in Detroit to ask about Top Notch gear, I knew the work could travel. But growth wasn’t overnight. It took road trips, pop-ups, trunk sales, and long nights—plus the steady foundation of my wife Nora standing beside me. Over time, 2854 became a signature of authorship across the ecosystem: a framework applied through design, narrative, and continuity—present without being exposed.
Detroit to the World
Word spread from block to block, then city to city. What started as a basement operation grew into limited releases, collaborations, and cultural storytelling that carries Detroit’s energy worldwide. The mission stayed the same: build something real—and leave a bridge for the next generation.
Top Notch NME is more than a label—it’s a legacy built through discipline, authorship, and Detroit-born identity. The journey is still being written, one collection at a time.
